E-Time is Basketball
Previously, it was the Antelope Duke Devils, a species found only in the area just northeast of Sacramento and on the court during spring and summer. But having joined forces with Rich Sondhi’s squad out of Roseville, the team now is known as the E-Time Hoops Academy, basketballers from the state capital surroundings. Ernest Taubodo coaches the top E=Time squad and he possesses some particular bonafides for the position.
E-Time Hoops Academy
First, Taubodo is the junior varsity head coach at Center High in Antelope. In keeping the faith fashion -- cue The Beach Boy’s ’Be True To Your School’ -- he is also a Center alumnus. While in the military and stationed in Germany, Taubodo played basketball so he possesses a long time affiliation with both the sport and his alma mater.
Plus, the family lineage is continuing as his oldest son Daniel Smith will be a senior at Center High in 2010-2111 and his youngest son Devon Taubodo will also be a senior as well.
So how is E-Time Hoops doing? Try a leap from five teams last season to ten this year, with plans for a girls squad come the fall.
By the way, here is the why of the name E-Time Hoops Academy: Per Taubodo, ’E-time Hoops equals Elite Time Hoops Academy. I came up with the name to describe the ultimate goal in youth basketball, that being to provide the ingredients necessary to build the complete basketball athlete. In the Academy, our areas of focus are: individual and team fundamental training, plyometric and strength conditioning training, academic support, NCAA exposure, competitive skill development and mentoring program. Our mission is to develop character within young people through their passion for basketball.’
What is definitely of interest to college recruiters is that a trio of players on the top E-Time team are D-1 prospects.
Members of the E-Time Hoops 17U team with commentary by Taubodo:
JT Adenrele
- JT Adenrele, F, Oakmont High, 6-foot-7, 2011: Is a big-time force inside as at the Rumble In The Bay (RITB) tournament, he controlled the paint with multiple blocked shots and thunderous dunks -- John had the highlight of the weekend off a baseline alley-oop in the first play-off game.
- Robert Duncan, G, Granite Bay High, 6-foot-1, 2011: Robert is a smooth guard with great athleticism -- he was our leading points producer during the RITB weekend with balanced scoring inside and out and he also led our team in steals.
- Chad Haysbert,. F, Center High, 6-foot-8, 2011: Our version of the “Big Fundamental”, Chad is the most versatile player on our team -- he played all five positions and led the team in minutes played at RITB.
- Devin Crisosto, G, Foothill High (Palo Cedro), 6-foot-1, 2011: The smartest player on the floor at any given time, he has the uncanny ability to see developments on the before they occur -- Devin led our team in assists and intangibles and is an absolute star in the making.
- Daniel Smith, G, Center High, 6-foot-0, 2011: Daniel is our change-up point guard, he can dictate the tempo and control the game as an old school pass-first, shoot-second, take care of the ball guard.
- Devin Murphy, G, Woodcreek High, 6-foot-0, 2011: Devin is our speedy, athletic, new-age point guard -- he can get to the basket at will with unbelievable explosion, he has quick hands and is a suffocating defender.
- Joe Eyen, G, Granite Bay High, 6-foot-0, 2011: Joe is a light’s out shooter and leads our team in three-point shots made. He has unlimited range and is transitioning into a nice combo guard who can lead the team as well.
- Jamie Geyer, F, Woodcreek High, 6-foot-3, 2011: Our steady leader and the glue that keeps our team together -- Jamie doesn’t do one thing great, but does a lot of things very well. He is the pulse of our team and effort leader.
