Environmental Protection
I've fought the fight for the environment and will continue to do so as your Council person. I've recently heard people in public meetings advocating building on our greenbelt lands. Let's make sure that doesn't happen.

Housing
Let's continue to support the construction of rental housing. let's work to legalize over 2000 unpermitted housing units and encourage the construction of more housing where appropriate.

Beach Protection
Our beaches are too often closed because of bacterial pollution. Our storm water drains carry pollutants straight into the ocean. Our sewers are failing and leaking viruses. Septic tanks carry effluent down the San Lorenso to our beaches. Swimmers are getting sick. As your council member, working to clean up our beaches will be a special priority.

Bicycles
I ride my bike a lot. Bike technology has made this form of transportation accessible to a broader range of people than it used to. I'd like to pledge my full support for a bike-friendly Santa Cruz. And let's fix up our streets. A lot of them are so rough they aren't safe to ride a bike on.

Process
We hear the work a lot. To me it means the Council is up front with you. We don't blindside you; we make sure you know what's going on, and let you have your say. Secrecy destroys trust and cuts off input. If the Council governed with the above principles foremost, I think more respect for process would lead to more civility and understanding.
